In my most recent work I have been investigating the entity of dreams. I am fascinated by the way everyday objects are rearranged in our minds as we sleep, creating a strange alternate world where the objects we recognise from the waking world have different meanings and uses.
My work takes a playful approach, often manifesting itself as large sculptural pieces, each made up of several mixed media components. This collage-like outcome stems from my thorough enjoyment of experimentation in different media and techniques. The contrast of these different media within the work is very important to help accentuate the surrealism of my hand-fabricated sleep world. Within this I also juxtapose the 2-dimensional and the 3-dimensional, the photographic and the hand-drawn and the oversized and the miniature.
